MediaCityUK is set to celebrate summer with its first family ‘Summer Weekender’ from Friday, 9 August until Sunday, 11 August, bringing live music, tasty food, fairground rides and a host of children’s activities to the Piazza.
On the Friday at 13.30, the weekend will kick off with a 40-minute performance by BBC Philharmonic’s Early Ears Trio of the children’s storybook classic, The Gingerbread Man. From 16:00 until 18:00, Manchester’s popular DJ collective ‘Disco Mums’’ will play tunes that all the family can enjoy.
From 12:00 until 18:00 on Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 August, Parentfolk will be delivering summer craft activities, including under-the-sea mobile making, snappy crab art workshop, beach bag designing plus much more.
DJ sets will be playing throughout the day, culminating with the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club performing live on Saturday, 10, from 15:00 to 16:30, prior to broadcasting his live BBC Radio 6 show from MediaCityUK’s Quay House.
On Sunday, 11, as well as craft activities provided by Parentfolk, musicians from BBC Philharmonic will give an outdoor performance from 12:00 to 15:00.
Stephen Wild, Managing Director, MediaCityUK, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting our first MediaCityUK Summer Weekender which will not only showcase phenomenal musical talent but great food, as well as engaging crafts for younger members of the family.”
Tickets: £4 per person, which includes craft activities for children and live music. There are fairground rides at an additional cost. Two adults and two children (16 and under) are available for £15 under 3s are FREE.
Autism hour will take place from 12:00 noon until 13:00 from Friday to Sunday.
