MediaCity based The Reporters’ Academy has been selected as a chosen charity for Co-op’s Local Community Fund. The not-for-profit media production company specialises in teaching media skills and growing the confidence and employability of vulnerable young people and will now receive support from Co-op members.
The Co-op Local Community Fund supports projects across the UK that help people with access to food, mental wellbeing support and education and employment for young people. Since the fund began, over £100m has been raised for local causes across the country.
With the money donated, The Reporters’ Academy will deliver media training to vulnerable young people to create short films around unsung heroes in their community. They’ll be using the funds raised to support their network of young people to help them on their paths to education or employment, and also put back into the community through the content they create.
To support The Reporters’ Academy, registered members can select them as their chosen cause through the Co-op app. Then, everytime members buy selected Co-op branded products and services in store, The Reporters’ Academy will receive a helping hand.
The Reporters’ Academy have created a video to explain that process in more detail. https://youtu.be/Ybo4q0PObuI
