Shoku, a Japanese-Peruvian inspired restaurant and sushi bar has now opened in MediaCityUK and is the first Nikkei kitchen and sushi bar of its kind outside London.
Joining an already vibrant area, Shoku will bring a unique and exotic concept to MediaCityUK’s flourishing social and dining out scene. The restaurant takes inspiration from traditional Japanese grill cafes and combines it with a Peruvian twist by taking Peruvian ingredients and preparing them, using Japanese techniques.
The restaurant will offer casual yet upscale dining, from a lunchtime bite to a high-end evening experience. For grab and go options, Sushi can be made to order and collected, or a chef’s own Bento Box offers an eclectic and exotic mix of flavours.
Bringing his experience and deep appreciation for combining tradition and innovation is Head Chef, James Saadat. James has a great passion for Peruvian Style food which has made him travel the globe mainly across various parts of South America to experience and learn the unique techniques of Nikkei style food.
Their modern MediaCityUK fit out has an Instagram-able Japanese maple leaf ceiling, intimate booths and includes a Nikkei kitchen and sushi bar. The vast menu includes a raw bar, small and large plates, ramen, homemade broths and fusion style sweets.
Co-Owner of Shoku, Adam Regan has twenty years’ experience as a chef and has had successful ventures in Brighton and Ancoats said: “Being a chef will always be my top passion. After forging a valuable partnership with Sam Batra who also brings a vast and diverse experience within the industry, I’m looking forward to rekindling my love for the kitchen at Shoku. With this project, I’m excited to develop my knowledge of Japanese cuisine even further and will continually drive this unique concept forward.”
Along with their passion for great food, Shoku are also showing their passion for ending poverty and saving the environment through their partnership with the United Nations Environment backed initiative Carbon Free Dining.
As a Carbon Free Dining Certified restaurant, Shoku’s diners have the opportunity to plant a life-changing fruit tree in the developing world. These fruit trees provide food, shelter, education and the start of a lasting economy. They also counterbalance the carbon produced from their meals.
