Christmas has officially arrived at MediaCity — and this year, the festive season is bigger, brighter and more delicious than ever. From limited-edition menus and winter cocktails to world-class theatre, charity raffles and a host of new openings, here’s everything lighting up our waterside neighbourhood this Christmas.
Lightwaves Salford: A Dazzling Return to the Waterfront
Lightwaves Salford – presented by Quays Culture – returns for its 12th year this December, transforming Salford Quays and MediaCity with a vibrant trail of 12 captivating light art installations.
Free to attend, the popular festival runs from Thursday 4 – Sunday 7 December 2025, 4pm–10pm, inviting visitors to wander, explore and experience the area in a whole new light. No booking required — simply turn up and enjoy.
Staged entirely outdoors, Lightwaves brings together families, friends and festive explorers of all ages to discover artworks that blend light, sound, music and digital technology. Many installations will be interactive, encouraging visitors to dance, play and perform as part of the experience. This year’s themes range from nostalgic seaside arcades to powerful reflections on climate change and our connection to the natural world, all designed to inspire optimism, joy and togetherness.

Christmas at Lowry brings two spectacular festive productions:
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Weds 3 Dec 2025 – Sun 11 Jan 2026
Step through the wardrobe and into Narnia as the West End smash-hit returns with breath-taking staging and family-favourite storytelling.
Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile
The Roald Dahl Story Company has announced the full cast for this wickedly funny musical adventure, arriving for its festive season at The Lowry. Expect mischief, music and larger-than-life storytelling perfect for families.
One Lowry, Many Stories
Marking 25 years of The Lowry, a new immersive installation and photography exhibition celebrates the landmark’s incredible history and the thousands of stories it continues to inspire.
Festive Flavours at Nells
Nells is diving head-first into Christmas with a line-up of seasonal specials that take indulgence to new heights.
Festive Pizza – “Now That’s What I Call Christmas”
Garlic cream base, crumbly Lancashire cheese, Fior di Latte, brie, stuffing, red onion, garlic roast sprouts, stuffing crumb, crispy sage and red onion chutney.

Festive Ice Cream Sandwich – “Nan’s Trifle”
